2025 Advanced Trainee Research Project Program (ATRPP
The ATRPP is ANZSN/ANZDATA’s signature trainee research program (program) designed to increase the capacity of trainees to undertake research using data from the ANZDATA Registry and develop their statistical skills. The program aims to drive capacity within the Registry and in particular, provide statistical support for trainee research projects and enrich registry quality assurance activities, all of which align with the ANZSN pillars of research, education and advocacy.

ANZSN and ANZDATA are thrilled to announce Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the 2025 Trainee Research Project Program (ATRPP) are open.
The deadline for submitting EOIs :
Friday, March 14th, 2025, closing 3 pm ACST.
Five successful projects are eligible to receive epidemiological and statistical support to answer important research questions related to dialysis and kidney transplantation priority areas. These projects must be collaborative in nature and be completed by the end of the 2nd year of RACP Nephrology Advanced Training.
While projects must be led by a Trainee, it is desirable Trainees have one or more supervisors for the project locally. Trainees and/or their local supervisors should have a research idea or an area of interest. ANZDATA and the ANZSN-ANZDATA Clinical Epidemiology Fellow can assist in developing and refining a suitable research project that uses data from the ANZDATA Registry in conjunction with the trainee.
Statistical Support for Trainee Research Projects
The ANZDATA-ANZSN Clinical Epidemiology Fellow will provide support to trainees to understand appropriate research design, complete and submit an ANZDATA Registry data request, develop a statistical analysis plan and provide guidance on performing the statistical analysis.
Through this process, the trainee will be expected to develop basic skills in research and statistical analysis and an understanding of how Registry data can be used to answer important research questions
Preference will be given to:
- Trainees earlier in RACP Nephrology Advanced Training (1st or 2nd year Advanced Training) with the aim of completing the research project for submission to fulfil training requirements
- Trainees based at hospitals/institutions without local statistical or research support (See Policy 2.8: Guidance on statistical support for external researchers)
If the number of trainees seeking statistical support exceeds the available capacity, then trainees will be selected by delegates from ANZDATA and ANZSN with an aim to balance the above requirements and ensuring diversity.
Trainees who are may miss out on the ATRPP but are still interested in receiving support from the ANZDATA-ANZSN Clinical Epidemiology Fellow for a research project may also contact the ANZDATA Registry directly throughout the year.
